This is for all of the mothers out there, but especially to two of my friends in Pittsburg and southwest Florida. You know who you are.
For all of you people out there, cherish your mothers while you still can. Mine died in 2001, and since I was the only child without a family of my own, it left a big void in my life. I will say that I lived in the same town as my mom for the last ten years of her life, and never went more than three weeks when I was living in the city without seeing her.
I spent the day at Gina's today. I went to church with her, and they had a special reception for the graduates, along with applauding all of the mothers in the audience. Then I spent the afternoon with her until her husband got back at four with the girls, then we went out to Dairy Queen to use up a bunch of coupons. All in all, it was a welcome respite from the hassles and boredom of city life.
I have an interview at a school a block and a half away from my house. It is a special charter school designed to teach recent immigrants to our nation. Of course, I can only speak English, and a little Spanish, but math is a universal language. Wish me luck tomorrow morning.
Well, other than that, not much is happening. Gena's daughter is graduating next Sunday, so I will be going up to Cameron next Sunday. Of course, that is the last Sunday I will miss when the Royals are in town.
Well, tata for now, Dougie Fresh
